Those Pesky Unhealed Wounds
Namaste`, Y'all,
I've been having a slough of reoccurring thoughts around the topic of healing past wounds from relationships that I've released. What I've been finding is how intricately I was intertwined with the toxic pools they existed in. This has also provided me with deep wounds within my being that need to be healed and released. Sometimes our greatest lessons happen long after being removed from a situation, and as I grow older, I'm appreciating this fact of the human experience. Time will heal our old wounds if we allow it, and it certainly provides a new perspective. One of the advantages of being in this human experience is the ability to recall key life events and to look at them with a changed mind. Conscious awareness is a superpower we all have full access to and few engage with.
I came across a meme the other day about life lessons. It spoke on how life lessons are learned after going through a situation, and school lessons are for preparation. How true is this? How many times do we say or hear the verbal testimony, “I wish I knew then what I know now?” Here's a classic example of crazy wisdom we encounter in those aha moments. We suddenly get an intuitive hit regarding a thought we've not entertained for some time, and bam, there is the scene and the answers that come with it. You realize that what happened had to happen for both parties, and there's nothing to do except embrace it for what it was and let go of any negative emotions that may still trigger you. This is a prime time to heal and forgive ourselves for keeping our pain buried and to free it.
What I've also learned from these moments is how these themes continue to play out in my current relationships, from platonic to intimate. What we refuse to heal (deep wounds of our psyche), life will continue to reveal to us in some way shape or form in our partnerships. This is why so many of us will run away from others when they start to mirror the hurt we thought was safely tucked away from the world to see and protect our fragile ego. The reality of the pain is too much to bear, so we take off into a new union with the belief that our truth won't be discovered. But that's not how life works. We are all reflections of our inner world, not our physical bodies. I believe we need to start putting the focus on the interior instead of the exterior. What will never change is the truth of who we are within, and this is proved by the interactions we have with each other.
If you follow my work and have had a session with me (book today), you've probably heard me say, “You can't give away what you don't have.” These words are spot on when you really take the time to look at your relationship history. How many people have you encountered who did a major shift in their character after being with them for any length of time? When they appeared, you encountered someone entirely different, then when you parted. You're blown away at how they played you, but really they played themselves by revealing the wounded soul they refuse to heal. It's a lesson in being careful of whom you entertain and not to allow the red flags to cloud your judgment when something feels off. Narcissists are masters at projecting and deflecting their wounds, which is why they leave so much damage in their lives. You can only pretend for so long, until that mask drops. Operating from authenticity will free you, not trap you. A narcissistic person does not learn.
In closing, show yourself and others compassion on this life journey. We're all working with different tools on our specific paths. Make sure to set healthy boundaries and take regular time-outs for healing reflection. The relationship with Spirit should supersede the ones we have with others. When that is in order, we enable better unions to manifest into our lives, resulting in higher expressions of love and potential growth. This will give both individuals space to move their karma, heal wounds, and elevate their soul's journey. We are all here on this earthly plane to experience humanity, so why not have the best you can possibly create? Let's try to manifest a healed collective consciousness that moves us forward and upwards.
